Doctor Who Credits In The Style Of Buffy The Vampire Slayer

Tainted Dalek Love

Doctor Who Dalek Sec Hybrid Voice FX Mask Car Boot Bargain

At Torksey Car Boot today, I got a Dalek Sec Hybrid Voice FX Mask, the women selling it hadn't a clue what it was, and I claimed I didn't know, but told her my son will like it :)

Theres no packaging of course, but its in full working order, really clean (as new), and I paid £1.50 for it :) I think thats the bargain of today! I'll put it in the loft with my ever growing collection of Doctor Who merchandise :)

I did try it on (purely to test you understand), Emma is frightened of me wearing it!

Outland DVD Report

Outland is a Western set in space, as it was popular to make at the time, in fact its the christmas TV classic High Noon (remember when that was always on?).

William ONiel (Sean Connery) is the Marshal for a settlement on Io, one of Jupiters moons. While investigating the deaths of some miners, he discovers the mine boss Sheppard (Peter Boyle) has been giving his workers a work-enhancing drug that keeps them productive for months, until some finally go berserk (probably not unlike our Crystal Meth!). Boyle sends killers to neutralise ONeil, who is unable to get the miners to back him up!

Outland is no classic but it offers suspense in an otherworldly atmosphere. It is not unlike the BBC series Star Cops (a personal favourite). Not a bad movie, despite its similarities to many others!

What If They Made A Ten Doctors...

Eraser DVD Report

In Eraser, John Kruger (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is employed by the Witness Protection Program as an eraser, he wipes out a witness identity in order to save them from potential harm. One such person is beautiful Lee Cullen (Vanessa Williams), who possesses vital information regarding super high-tech weapons being illegally sold to terrorists, and the conspiracy connected to them.

Kruegers job of protecting Cullen will lead to some action-packed, death-defying adventures, gunmen, alligators and even skydiving without parachutes! Furthermore, a traitor within the Witness Protection Program is hell-bent on violently erasing Krueger and Cullen!

Except for the Terminator franchise, Eraser is possibly Schwarzeneggers best role, non stop action throughout, and how many bullets do these guys shoot in the movie? Great story, great everything!

Here is the trailer...

Torchwood Children Of Earth Transmission Date?

Torchwood.TV
has a post taken from the new Torchwood Magazine about forthcoming audio dramas, which reveals Children Of Earth transmission details.

The episodes... will air as part of Radio 4s Afternoon Play slot from 2:15pm (it's likely they'll air all in the same week, in June). Its stated that they're set... before Children of Earth - which airs a week or so after the radio series concludes.

So its June or early July for Torchwood Children of Earth! It keeps moving up, but with no Doctor Who for six months, having this in the break is good!

Happy Saint Georges Day, But...

Its April 23rd, Saint Georges Day in England, I've just spent 10 minutes arguing (correctly) about his nationality, so as I had to look it all up, and so you know we are not alone...

Saint George was not English, he was a Roman soldier and christian martyr. The story of Saint George and the Dragon is a myth brought back from the Crusades.

Saint George is not only a patron Saint in England, but Aragon, Catalonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Greece, Lithuania, Palestine, Portugal, and Russia, as well as the cities of Amersfoort, Beirut, Bteghrine, Cáceres, Ferrara, Freiburg, Genoa, Ljubljana, Gozo, Pomorie, Qormi, Lod and Moscow too!

He is also celebrated in Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, India, Palestine, Serbia, Spain and the USA.

Plus he is patron saint of archers, cavalry, chivalry, farmers, field workers, riders, saddlers and soldiers.

He helps those suffering from leprosy, plague and syphilis.

In recent years he has been adopted as patron saint of Scouts.

And theres more here!

There are moves to make April 23rd a Bank Holiday also!

So happy Roman Soldier day, and may you never catch one of the diseases he helps against!

A Happy Birthday To Me, a Telephoto Zoom :)

I got a telephoto zoom lens for my birthday today, a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG Macro for my Canon EOS 400D, which I got last birthday lol). Its pretty good, I could have chosen a better one, but then again its not a lens you use all the time anyhow!

I got it for less than the amazon price of course :)

When I get chance I intend to test it by photographing the seaforts off Cleethorpes coast, I'm tempted to go this evening :)

Gillian Anderson being lined up for Doctor Who appearance

I ignore a lot of these sillly stories, but this one could happen...

Gillian Anderson, best known for X-Files Special Agent Dana Scully, is expected to be cast opposite the new Doctor Matt Smith.

It is claimed the Doctor Who makers want the London-based actress to appear in a one-off special episode as a deadly enemy of the Time Lord.

The American star would play the renegade Time Lady The Rani, a glamorous but evil scientific genius.

Source1. Source2.

OK, it probably still won't happen, but I think its a possible, after all she lives in the UK and having a US actress in the show makes it do well in the USA. Probably not as The Rani though :)

Space Patrol & The Secret Weapon 1965 Car Boot Bargain

I got this from Torksey car boot today, Space Patrol & The Secret Weapon, originally published in 1965 by World Distributors.

Although its annual size, its not an annual - its one long story, in text format with pictures! Its in pretty good condition too, and hasn't been drawn in, which is always a problem with childrens books!

I understand this book is pretty rare, like Rocking Horse Droppings a friend said :) Space Patrol was a Black and white 1960s TV series.

There is a pretty comprehensive fan site here. I paid £1 for the book :)

2 More Doctor DVDs Ordered, Vengeance On Varos & The Invasion Of Time

TheHut have 10% off all DVDs for 24 hours, so that made 2 more titles cheaper, I got these for £6.24 each, Vengeance On Varos and The Invasion Of Time. I'm getting pretty close on having all released DVDs now, except brand new releases (which I always wait to go down in price anyhow!

To get 10% off at TheHut just enter Movie10 at the checkout in the discount box!

Doctor Who Power Rollers Car Boot Bargain

I picked 51 Doctor Who Power Rollers today, they normally cost £1.50 for a pair, so there are over £38 worth! With these was a model TARDIS, which is the carrying case, it has a £3.50 shop price sticker on it, so I got over £40 worth for £1 :) I'll add them to the ever growing collection in the loft :)

More about them here.

Its The End Of The World As We Know It...

In just 3 years a solar superstorm could send us back into the dark ages!

It is a balmy evening in late September 2012, ever since the sun set, the dimming skies over London have been alive with fire. Pillars of incandescent green writhe like gigantic serpents across the skies. Sheets of orange race across the horizon during the most spectacular display of the aurora borealis seen in southern England for 153 years.

90 seconds later, the lights start to go out, not the lights in the sky - they will dazzle until dawn - but the lights on the ground. Within an hour, large parts of Britain are without power. By midnight, every mobile network is down and the internet is dying. Television - terrestrial and satellite - blinks off the air. Radio is reduced to a burst of static.

By noon the following day, it is clear something terrible has happened and the civilised world has plunged into chaos. A year later, Britain, most of Europe plus North America is in the grip of the deepest economic catastrophe in history.

By the end of 2013, 100,000 Europeans have died of starvation. The dead go unburied, the sick untreated.

It will take two decades or more for the first green shoots of recovery to appear - recovery from the first solar superstorm in modern history.

This catastrophe is not some academic one-in-a-million chance scenario, see link below.

The World Of Lee Evans DVD Report

The World Of Lee Evans
contains the unique talents of one of Britains brightest comedy stars. Lee Evans burst onto the stand-up comedy circuit as the winner of the Perrier Award, and here he delivers his unique brand of physical humour in a series of short comedy films.

Ordinary situations are turned into a series of sketches, whether its meeting his girlfriends parents for the fist time in Meet the Folks (co-starring Prunella Scales, Tony Selby and Caroline Aherne), sharing a sleeping carriage with his girlfriend on a train in Off the Rails (co-starring Jo Unwin), or working in an all-night petrol station in Late Shift co-starring John Thomson) Mr Confidence (with Samantha Beckinsale) and Special Delivery (with Amanda Dickinson).

Although I like Evans, this is his old Channel 4 series, its very slapstick comedy, that is very hard to get right, and Evans does, but I got bored! I need to be drunk to enjoy this style of comedy, and I wasn't :)

JFK Rendezvous With Death DVD Report

JFK Rendezvous With Death
reminds us that John F Kennedys assassination was the murder of the century! Over the last 40 years many conspiracy theories surround Lee Harvey Oswald, they have captured the imagination of people the world over. Now new facts supporting a new scenario have been uncovered (as they always are).

Just weeks before Kennedy was shot, Oswald traveled to Mexico. FBI supervisor Laurence Keenan re-traced Oswalds movements in Mexico and the information that he found was so explosive that President Lyndon B Johnson personally ordered an immediate halt to the Mexico investigation. Was Oswald a weapon-for-hire as claimed in the last round of a duel between John F Kennedy and Robert Kennedy against Fidel Castro?

This is a 90 minute documentary, it seems padded out a lot including the Cuban chief of covert operations behaving like Arthur Daley, so nice and friendly, he wants to be your best friend, which sets alarm bells ringing! Overall somewhat drawn out and the smell of bullshit (and I do believe that Oswald didn't kill JFK, but who did?)

JFKs favorite poem, which is the title to this DVD...

Doctor Who & HMS Prison Broadfell

(Click for Larger Images)

In the Doctor Who Christmas Episode, there appears to be a HMS Prison Broadfell, which its totally fictional, but as we can see, its been least partially blown up! A prison escape perhaps? If so who? The Master is supposed dead, but could a prison hold him? Harriet Jones? We assume shes dead. but is she worth breaking out even if alive? Or even Lucy Saxon (if shes still about?).

Curiouser and Curiouser!

The third image is a mock-up by Doodle (you can print this out for your bedroom door :) ), he says this sign is not like real HM prison signs! Thanx for this :)
