Terror of The Vervoids was the first appearance of Bonnie Langford as Mel, who received no introductory story, and no explanation of how she came to travel with the Doctor!
Parker, that's what we're led to believe by Moffat's conspiracy! Little do we know he's secretly planning on bringing Mel back, along with the Valeyard in tow.
