2012's Doctor Who Christmas special, The Snowmen, attracted almost 1.5 million programme requests on BBC iPlayer in December, which helped the platform enjoy another record-breaking festive period.

In total, Doctor Who: The Snowmen was requested 1,467,220 times over Christmas, making it the most popular iPlayer progrmme.


It was closely followed by the Christmas Day edition of EastEnders, which had 1.4m requests, and Miranda, at 1.3m requests.
