Liverpool John Moores University has created a "Merseyside at War" website: "Merseyside residents can now upload their memories and memorabilia, telling tales of bravery and sacrifice during World War 1, as LJMU's 'Merseyside at War 1914-1918' project was officially launched at Liverpool Central Library. The project is designed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War by sharing stories about how the First World War impacted the local community through an online archive.
Acting legend, star of cult films and the eighth Doctor Who Paul McGann, was back in Liverpool to add his own family history and demonstrate how people can upload diaries, letters, photos, poems, war records and birth and death certificates of loved ones who were involved in the war."
McGann talks about it very eloquently in this video.
