REMINDER: Doctor Who Live Feed and Streaming Video of "The Almost People" for Saturday

Instead of airing the latest episode tomorrow, BBC America will be playing the final two a whole week later than in the UK. It's due to the solemn Memorial Day (it's like a broader Armistice Day), giving Americans a three-day-long weekend that always corresponds with unusually low television viewing figures. Therefore, "The Almost People" and "A Good Man Goes to War" will be delayed in the United States.

It's more important than ever that we spread the word about our regular live feed and streaming video. If you depend on BBC America—and if you don't, just imagine the situation—will you really be able to resist spoilers for an entire week? Even after "A Good Man Goes to War" airs on the other side of the pond? We certainly won't be spoiler-free.

Fortunately enough, you won't have to endure that degree of torture, because we'll have all the regulars. Complete details about our live feed of BBC One hit this blog about an hour before the episode airs, and PCJonathan will probably complete his streaming video an hour-and-a-half to two hours after the broadcast.

INFORMATION UPDATE: If you're preparing for the live stream, it's best to download VLC Media Player now; that's what we use for live stream data. But there's a chance that the download may not work, or at least work well, so in that case we'll rely upon the usual alternate sources that don't require a download. Please be punctual and arrive about an hour before the broadcast at 6:45 UK time (compare); it's very irritating when people ask if we'll have a live stream . . . halfway through the broadcast.

Now, if you know anybody who's in need of Doctor Who this Saturday, we appreciate free shameless advertising in all forms. Blog, post on Facebook, tweet (even retweet Combom and 10thPlanet), or whatever it is you use to communicate besides, you know, actually talking. Advertising now can save hundreds from waiting a week for the latest episode.

And the more people who use these services, the more inclined we are to continue improving them. If you know of an alternate live stream service, please contact us.

As an American, I'm super greatful for the work yall do putting the episodes up. How long will they remain up? I'm having trouble viewing "The Rebel Flesh"

it will be live, that means we show it as the bbc shows it, 6.45pm uk time. it ends at 7.30pm uk time.

we will have recorded versions online afterwards, downloadable within an hour of it ending, embedded usually that night!

Hi, this is a great idea, and we in the states salute you for your work. But I never see the download link for the VLC files. Am I'm missing something obvious?

Thanks again!

If you come AFTER the episode airs live (about 1:00 EST), we've already taken down the links to avoid BBC intervention. They're there, but you have to be punctual, hence these reminders.

If you can't see the download files for some reason, we recommend at least one other live feed site you can use, and our streaming video will be up about an hour-and-a-half after the broadcast.

Thanks good to know! Showing up on time is 90% of game!

The other 10% is downloading VLC.

I'm on holiday over in America. You're about to become my new favourite website.

I don't have to anything beforehand, just be here at 18:30 UK time?

I suggest being here about 5:45 UK time. We usually post the streaming info about an hour ahead of time.

In the interval, it's best to download the VLC player as soon as possible; but if you don't want to download, we'll post at least one other live stream that won't require the program. Honestly, though, quality is best with VLC.

Im a bit confused.
Yes, I understand that you get a kick out of putting up the live feed.
But at the same time, you have another post saying 'make sure you watch Dr Who to keep the ratings up'.
This will have the exact opposite effect for BBC America, won't it?
You need to get anyone who uses the live feed to watch when it airs too, surely?

Perhaps, but we're much more invested in people's enjoyment of the episode than BBC America's short-term ratings. When "The Almost People" airs, all hell will break loose on the Internet; you can't avoid spoilers with something like this. So why surrender over a million people to the ravages of premature spoiling?

Besides, while many people use our videos, it's not nearly enough to damage BBC America's ratings. A couple thousand, perhaps, among 1.5 million?

Thank you very much for all the work that goes into this site. Regarding the BBC America ratings, I'm going to watch the show live in a few hours and download the .avi a little later. Next week, I will DVR the episode, download it from iTunes and will buy the box set later this year. So they might not get my ratings, but they will get my money.
