The Doctor, the Widow & The Wardrobe - What We Know

Previously when speaking about the Christmas special we only knew of its name and certain characters, but now after the listing of several TV magazines and pull outs more details have emerged about how long the episode is, its characters and synopsis. Here is what we have learned:

DOCTOR WHO SERIES 7 EPISODE 0 – The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe

Original Transmission Date: 25th December 2011, 7pm UK time (58 minutes).

1941, WWII, and sees Madge Arwell and her two children evacuated to a draughty old house in Dorset, where the caretaker is the Doctor, and a big blue parcel is waiting for them under the tree! They are about to enter a magical new world and learn that a Time Lord never forgets his debts.

What we know:
  • Reg Arwell is flying over sea and goes missing, assumed killed, Madge doesn't want to tell her children and spoil their Christmas.
  • The Doctor is rewiring the TARDIS to link it up to a blue present underneath the tree which leads to a mysterious planet.
  • The 3 Space Harvesters are evil, the Doctor sends them home, they are then later seen in the planet where Madge and her kids go to.
  • The Doctor still misses Amy and Rory.
  • A machine used by the Space Harvesters misidentifies wool as a weapon.
  • The Doctor pays a visit to Amy and Rory at their home.

Rumors/Theories:
    • The Doctor will return for Amy and Rory and take them with him, preparing for 2012 series.
    • The Lighthouse seen in promo pictures is a metaphor for the Star (The nativity).
    • The 2 Children might be a metaphor for the Shepard's. (The nativity).
    • Reg Arwell will return at the end of the episode, meaning time has been re-written by the Doctor
    • Reg Arwell might be a metaphor for Jesus (Easter, he rose from the dead).
