You know, Colin Baker does grow on you. Like a fungus? Perhaps, but still...

Watching these for the second time, I realise just how much I really do love the Sixth Doctor. I think that the BBC was a bit of a bastard with Colin Baker's Doctor. It was a a period of time when Doctor Who wasn't that popular and Michael Grade just wanted to cancel it. I do believe that if Colin Baker had been given better stories and they fixed his Doctor's persona (like they did with the Big Finish audios)he would have been immensley popular and pulled Doctor Who out of the rut it was experiencing. Thankyou for posting this and for letting me have this talk.

James, having just finished rewatching C. Baker's entire run, I was thinking exactly what you just said. I would have loved to see him have another few seasons, or at least some better production on his run.

Alas, neither happened and we are stuck with the Six we see before us: arrogant, bombastic, explosive, insecure and occasionally violent. Just not what Whovians were looking for (if I may speak for us all :) ).

i have just finished all of the colin baker episodes and i must say how much i liked his personality. he brought some very interesting dimension to the character. i did hate the way he dressed though. the one thing that bothered me is that the actual regeneration episode is missing. a real counter climax.

I actually liked him better in the first 3 episodes of "The Stranger"
he was still a jerk, but you could see a softer side that was missing in the Dr. Who episodes.

It's easy to slag on Colin Baker when he had crap writers but listen to the audios he's done with quality personnel and you get to see/hear the Doctor Who we could've had with competent people.

I thought he was very irritating at first, but he eventually grew on me. I now think he was very underrated. I love the 'Trial of a time lord' stories.
